SITE: Malevich, was a performance, installation and situational network that asks if performance documentation adequately reproduces the experience of sound practice, and critiques the gallery as a site for sound and performance practice.
For the performance, three amplifiers were placed throughout the gallery, and connected to one microphone under a network of red tape. After the performance, two of the amplifiers were removed from the gallery and replaced by photographic documentation of the amplifiers. These prints, pinned to the gallery walls in proximity to the original speaker locations and positioned close to the cables used during the performance, were accompanied by prints documenting the performance. For the duration of the exhibition one Marshall amplifier remained, connected to the network of cables and emitting a low hum.
